Dan & Meag

my
STORY

I missed his last phone call.

I knew the signs and I couldn't help no matter how much I tried.

Dan was in pain for years, but the truth is,

the entire family felt his pain.

It hurts to watch him from afar all the while

creating your own boundaries for yourself.

I watched him crumble.

I watched him be taken over even when he cried and knew

it's not what he wanted for his life.

I watched him get sober, to then question his existence.

I watched him sabotage because he didn't feel he was worth the happiness.

All I could do was watch.

I continually offered love and guidance.

I continually showed up.

Because that's all I could do.

To love someone who doesn't understand how to love themselves is the

most painful thing I have ever gone through as a sister.

But I tried to show up.

I loved the brother he was, playful, loyal & comedic.

I loved the man he became, loving, selfless & honorable.

His disease will not define him...

please don't remember him as sick.

remember him as funny, loyal & giving.

I loved Dan, I always will.

He lived his best life. The only one he knew how.

Dan

nov 23 1987-sept 10 2023

Anyone who knew him can attest that he was a

wonderful, kind, caring, and intentional person.

His life was marked by his love for his family.

Dan will be remembered for his

heart of gold, his quick wit, and his wry sense of humor.

He had a closet full of dapper vintage suits

and amassed a stockpile of old-school skateboards.

He welded metal scraps into fine art.

His works are unique and beautiful.

Dan was brilliant when it came to his custom welding skills on classic cars.

A portion of proceeds from this collection will go towards

raising awareness & education for our community against alcoholism & addiction.

Donations will be made in Dan's name.

Dan was a true generous soul.

He lived on the edge.

he swore, he had tattoos, sometimes he sported a pink mohawk & even big sideburns.

These designs are a thoughtfully created interpretation of dan from a sister who loved him from far.
